Welcome to the Parks & Gardens of Picardy
The “Parcs et Jardins de Picardie” Association is proud to number some 64 members whose gardens are today open to the public.
Without exception, our members all speak with the same enthusiasm about how they upkeep, improve, transform and shape their gardens.
The gardens of Picardy come each with its own story to tell. They punctuate our region, stretching from the champagne vineyards of the south eastern tip to the cliffs of the Baie de Somme, from the Thiérache to the Pays de Bray. And like the region itself, they are a tapestry of a thousand surprising, moving and varied tales.
Age-old gardens, scholars’ gardens, flower gardens. Landscaped gardens, arboretums, historic parks. Gardens where an epicurean spirit pervades. Each garden is a vision that has seeded and taken root. Each, in its own way, demonstrates the skill and know-how of those wonderful artists who are the gardeners.
The times of year and days of the week when gardens open will depend on the individual garden. Some may open only at weekends, but they are no less rich in surprises for you to marvel at. So make sure you check in advance.
More often than not you’ll find that it’s the owner who shows you around. After your visit, your guide will be more than happy to give you a few personal tips on some delightful little inn or a château or an unexpected site which you’d never otherwise have heard about. All you have to do is ask.
