How
about pretending to be Phileas Fogg and taking a trip in a hot air balloon
(after all, Jules Verne lived in Amiens)? Or, for the less adventurous,
there are the tethered balloons over the Somme Valley at Samara and over
the Oise in the gardens of the Château de Chantilly? The view of
that magnificent château and its park is breathtaking.
Slightly
more "down to earth" perhaps, are Barouche ("calèche")
rides around Amiens and Senlis, and steam train rides through the upper
Somme valley and in the Somme Bay.
Riverboat
cruises on the Ourcq or a punt through the Hortillonnages (Amiens' water-gardens)
can be a perfect solution for a relaxing visit.
